Country factsheets: Mapping Human Resources for Eye Health in Sub-Saharan Africa
Factsheets with key information on human resources for eye health in 21 African countries are available as a free PDF download from the journal Human Resources for Health.
Workforce data for each country are shown against the VISION 2020 targets for ophthalmologists, cataract surgeons, ophthalmic clinical officers, ophthalmic nurses, optometrists and mid-level refractionists. Each target is graded into three categories to show whether or not the country had met VISION 2020 targets in 2011. Data on workforce dynamics and cataract surgical rate are also presented.
