Childhood cataract in Africa

Childhood cataract in Africa

Cataract is a leading cause of blindness of children in Africa. This beautifully illustrated manual, written by people immersed in the ethos of community eye health and with first-hand experience of dealing with childhood cataract in Africa, addresses ways to manage the condition.

It covers planning and strategies as well as pre- and postoperative management, counselling, and rehabilitation.

The manual is an outgrowth of an “Experts Meeting on Childhood Cataract in Africa,” held at the Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology in Moshi, Tanzania in May 2007.
